Hello Home schooling friends,
I, Michelle Cordle, am one of the mom’s who has been appointed to share of my life as a mother of six, homeschooling through thick and thin. Even since my first discussion with Priscilla about helping with this blog, I have gone through some big highs and lows of daily life in as a homeschooling mother: losing power, phone service, and internet in the sweltering 100 degree heat when that sudden and unexpected derecho wind storm hit the Star City of the south was my most recent low.
Add to that challenge two unexpected hospitalizations for our handicapped daughter in six weeks time and the high of hosting a graduation and senior recital for my oldest son as well as hosting a houseful of company. Finally, top that off with all the normal end of school year rituals of selling old curriculum, choosing new curriculum and administering final exams.
I am POOPED and it’s only July 9th! But amidst these most recent days of challenges, I am reminded of our good God and His promises. Psalm 34:17 says “the righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles,” and in verse 19 the Psalmist reminds us that “many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” How good it is to know that we can call on the Lord for help as believers and even better to remind ourselves that we are not free from afflictions but can trust the Lord to work through these trials to refine us as mothers, home schoolers, and wives.
My power is on, my daughter is well again, my oldest is working full time after graduation in a satisfying summer job before leaving for college and we’re heading out for our family vacation soon! YAHOO! God has proven Himself to be faithful and His strength to be sufficient to meet all my needs this month once again. It is our hope and prayer that you will find a snippet or two of encouragement to go back into your own homeschooling world and that your power has come back on too!
