This coming week is the 7th Annual Cousins Camp for the Trice family. So, don’t expect much from me next week! It always seems to involve a family reunion, too, because my daughter from Phoenix comes in, with her four kiddoes, and everyone wants time with Mike and Jenni.
Cousins Camp is one of the ways that the VA cousins can develop closer ties with their NC and AZ cousins. I remember the rare times that I saw my cousins as I was growing up — we took too long warming up to each other to make very many lasting bonds. That is not what I wanted for my grandkids. Even though God has my children serving Him in different places, they still have the bonds with their siblings that they developed during their home-schooling years. In other words, they are still close friends, and facilitating some time for their kids to get to know one another is a delightful Grandma thing.
Each year I choose a direction or “theme” — I try to keep it loose. Last year our theme was DRAMA. That was not a hard choice; the kids LOVE to do plays and things, so we explored the range of possibilities in that genre, and came up with lots to do. The picture below shows them cavorting in the front yard with their mime make-up on. The black T-shirts were chosen for that reason, and my son-in-law David did a beautiful job with the design on the front.
Although it is a lot of fun, it is also a lot of work! My kids help me, but if you think of me next week, pray that all would go well. Thanks!
